From a conversation with the same Rachael…

Rachael: I actually really love teaching….
….it’s a lot of fun, and I do a lot of things to satisfy my own twisted sense of humor.
Like, yesterday at the end of class, I said “peace out fools!”
and all I got was blank stares
it was really funny…
…and i was teaching them about the wreck of the Hindenburg
and I had them create a radio dialogue announcing the hindenburg explosion…
…but two guys thought I said “Hindenburger” so they wrote about KFC and McDonalds.
I also made them all come up with English names because I can’t pronounce their Chinese ones and they just laugh at me when I try to…
…so this one guy in one of my classes, I swear he said his name was “Fat”
so i was calling him “Fat”…
…but then when I got the class list, I found out what he actually said was “Frank”.
China is funny.
… two days ago i went on a hike up the mountain with some students. Their English names are Champion, Promise, and Cinderella.
…But i’m seriously really happy here.
I can’t f-ing speak or read anything, and I love it…
…it’s not that hard though. I mean, it is if you think about it…
…but if you don’t think about it, it’s a lot of fun.
…and Chinese people are just happy in general, so it is kind of contagious.

Me: like SARS

Rachael: just like that
