Meet my favorite sculpture— Nike of Samothrace (aka Winged Victory of Samothrace). She’s a Hellenistic sculpture that is believed to have been commissioned during the 3rd century B.C. to celebrate a naval victory by Rhodes. Nike formerly had a head and arms, but I think she lost them in ‘Nam. She currently sits at the Louvre in Paris.
