Well, last Friday my family was confronted with the opportunity to host a foreign exchange student from Tanzania for a year, whose original housing arrangements had fallen through….. as long as the open-enrollment process goes well, he’ll be arriving on Tuesday or Wednesday this week, and I’m soooo excited (Yes, I will be leaving for 4 months, but whatevski)
His name is Steven, he’s 16 (just like my younger brother, Josh) and this is the information we were given about him:
Steven’s favorite subject in school is biology. Besides English, he can also speak Kiswahili, and a little bit of French. During his free time, he enjoys reading books and exercising. His main role model is President George Bush because he fights terrorism. Although there is no food that he doesn’t like, Steven is really fond of Chicken and chips. He hopes to improve his English in the US and study hard in school to make his parents proud. His career ambition is to become a surgical doctor. He has never traveled outside of Tanzania before. He describes himself as caring, respectful and peaceful. He tells his future family that in addition to sharing information about his culture with them, he will be very active in the community by volunteering.
He’s perfect.
