Today I’ve been rekindling my romance with Ray Charles. He always makes me think of summer because his rendition of America the Beautiful is used in the movie, Sandlot, when they all try chewing tobacco and barf at the fair. I love that movie.
I posted Georgia on my Mind because I really like when people sing about specific places. It always makes me want to go there. Two of my other favorites are Paul Simon’s Graceland, and James Taylor’s Carolina on my Mind. I’m a sucker for the southeast.
Hmm… I don’t know why, but I’ve never even considered (until now) that this song could be about a girl. The lyrics make it pretty ambiguous. I like that.
