Books for Hypochondriacs…

I’ve recently come to the realization that I’m a borderline hypochondriac.  I’m just a worrier, and I can’t help it.  Tim suggested maybe I try to read some books for hypochondriacs in an attempt to (hopefully) gain a more lighthearted and less-worrisome approach to these (generally irrational) fears.

I just did a search for recommended reading for Hypochondriacs on Amazon.com, and these were the top four:

1. The Coming Plague:  Newly Emerging Diseases in a World Out of Balance by Laurie Garrett   ” ‘Are my sniffles a cold, the flu, or…or…(gulp) EBOLA??????’  Find out here!”

2.  Virus Hunter:  Thirty Years of Battling Hot Viruses Around the World by C. J. Peters   “Go with the author and hunt viruses from the comfort and safety of your sickbed.  Don’t forget to disinfect the dust jacket.”

3.  Sex:  What You Don’t Know Can Kill You by Joe S. McIlhaney

4. The Hot Zone:  A Terrifying True Story by Richard Preston   “Leg room will be the least of your worries on your next plane trip-and don’t forget to pack your biohazard suit in your carry-on bag.”

Is it just me or do these books sound like the WORST BOOKS EVER for a hypochondriac to read.  Now, excuse me while I go soak in my Clorox bath.
