Last night’s adventure in Dreamland

I was sitting around the kitchen table with my parents and my sister, Rachel, who is 2 years older than me.  We were having an argument because Mom and Dad were letting Rachel go to Diddy’s New Year’s Eve party that night at his apartment out in the country. However, they would not let me go.

…So, I went to the party anyway, and met up with Rachel.  Diddy had been ignoring her, so we decided to leave pretty soon after my arrival.  At this point it was very dark because it was night time.  Rachel and I started walking down a very long and winding dirt road to where we parked our cars. As we were walking it became daytime, even though we had only been walking for a few short minutes.  Our dog, Max, met up with us on our walk, as well as a rabbit that was hopping beside us taking pictures of us, who eventually hopped away.

We came to a culvert that we had to go through in order to pass under a roadway.  In the dream, it seemed very ordinary to have to do this, and we thought nothing of it.  In the culvert, we were walking through water that was about calf-deep.  The water was slowly rising, but we weren’t worried.  Rachel passed through the culvert about 10 feet ahead of me, and right as I was about to exit the culvert, I looked behind me and saw a python swimming through.  Rachel and I both climbed up the sides of the culvert so that the snake could swim underneath our legs.  Right after it passed underneath Rachel, she jumped down, splashing the python.  This angered the snake and it furrowed its brow and quickly turned around.

By this time, the water level had gone down to about calf-deep again.  I found a garden hoe leaning against the wall in the culvert.  I chopped the snake in half, and then looked to the left to see a door leading out of the culvert marked with a glowing, red “EXIT” sign.  I opened the door, and on the other side was the bathroom of our old house in Dubuque.  I went in, but the front half of the snake followed me, and the back half of the snake stayed in the culvert to attack Rachel and Max.  I heard Rachel screaming, and Max making ferocious noises.

…And then I woke up.
