Dear Diary

I mean, I guess I’m an angel….

Last night I decided to stop into a craft store in Dubuque right before it closed to get some beading supplies.  As I was paying at the register, I hear this man say to the cashier,

“Oh crap.  I just drove all the way from Dickeyville, WI (about a 30min drive) to get this food coloring for my wife’s cakes and I forgot my credit card.”

He tried to talk the cashier into letting him give her his credit card number, address, etc., but she couldn’t do it.

I offered to pay for the man’s stuff… afterall, it was only about $3.00, and I laaaave making cakes, so I could sympathize.  We introduced ourselves, and he said,

“Sarah… this is going to come back to you.”

I’m not good at talking to strangers, so I just laughed nervously, “Ha well….ha I hope so…..we’ll see…..ha”

“I mean it Sarah…. there was a reason you were sent here tonight.  I want to walk out with you.”

Oh shit.  Either this guy wants to rape me or save my soul.

We walk outside and he turns to me right outside the door,

“Now, I’m a Christian man…”

Here it comes.

“Bear with me here just a minute….  I want to pray with you.”

So there we stood outside the strip mall craft store— his hand on my shoulder, thanking Jesus that I had been sent there to buy his wife’s yellow food coloring, and praying that I would be repayed “seven times over.”

I will keep you updated on the fortunes that come my way.
